Recent advances in quantum computing throughout the globe threaten perceived U.S. advantage in encryption and decryption of data. Unless the U.S. and allies increase investment in security and pair that capability with advanced artificial intelligence, the threat is likely to increase. Strategies for the U.S. military, recently released, reveal a return to great power competition albeit with caveats to disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
