An Aid to Quantum Communication Encryption Spoofing Detection?
A team of researchers have determined how to tell apart beams of entangled photons. By slowing one beam and having them rejoin, the frequencies of the light combine showing a marked peak in frequency. The closer in time the two beams arrive, the lower the peak and the demonstration of better efficiency. That is the crux of the study. The results lend to more assured encrypted communication channels. One potential use in encrypted communications security is that any interference from a nefarious actor could cause a marked peak and thus reveal potential tampering. Interesting read. March 4, 2018.
