Five-Day AICTE-ATAL Faculty Development Workshop On “Quantum Information Processing And Applications” Commenced At Central University Of Punjab

+  The Dept. of Computer Science and Technology of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari commenced a five-day AICTE-ATAL sponsored Faculty Development Workshop on “Quantum Information Processing and Applications”. The inaugural ceremony of this workshop was held on 23rd August, 2021. The main objective of this workshop is to provide a forum for participants to exchange ideas on the state of art research and development in Quantum Information Processing. Around 75 faculty, research scholars, students and industry experts from different states across India have applied in this workshop.

+  In her welcome address Prof. Amandeep Kaur, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, mentioned that Quantum Computing has emerged as an interdisciplinary research area at the interface of diverse academic disciplines such as Computer Science and Technology, Mathematics and Physics. She added, that this workshop will enhance the understanding of participants on this new emerging discipline and will upskill their knowledge to conduct research and generate new knowledge in this domain.

+  While introducing the programme theme Dr. Parvinder Singh, programme coordinator, stated that this workshop participants will get conceptual understanding and hands on training on different topics such as Basic introduction of quantum mechanics, quantum introduction and computation, Linear Algebra and Hilbert space, quantum correlation, quantum information processing applications, quantum cryptography, quantum simulation using qiskit and realization of quantum gates and circuits.
